Habitat: Explorations of Home and Shelter in Contemporary Art
Habitat broadly addresses the concept of home and shelter for all living creatures—people, animals, birds, insects, etc. alike. Depending on location, culture and economy home can look very different, this show includes images that portray exterior and/or interiors, as well as home objects. The show also includes virtual homes, dream homes, dioramas, and images of various structures of home—from house, tent and igloo to nest and hive. Habitat is a multi-media exhibition including painting, drawing, sculpture, photography and video.

I recently had the wonderful opportunity of working with the artists of Creative Growth as a visiting artist. As apart of their annual holiday show and sale, a few pieces from this workshop will be on display in the gallery. If you’ve never been to this event I urge you swing by and check it out. This is my favorite event of the year. I always have a great time and leave with a few (and sometimes too many!) cherished pieces.
Creative Growth’s holiday exhibition and studio sale has become a much-anticipated Bay Area tradition, one held in high regard by art collectors and holiday shoppers alike. This year’s exhibition highlights the work made during Creative Growth artist collaborations with guest contemporary artists: Kathleen Henderson, Meagan Donegan, Ed Musante, Jessica Dacher, Livia Stein, Sas Colby, Paper Magazine and more.
Holiday Project includes artwork for sale made in drawing, ceramics, rugs, woodwork, prints, cigar box art, sculpture and textiles. With one of a kind holiday cards, art books, t-shirts, watches AND the premier of the Creative Growth for Marc Jacobs Pop-Up-Shop, with limited edition bags direct from the 2009 fundraiser and collaboration with the internationally acclaimed Marc Jacobs design house.
