Jessie made her way into publishing early in her career with a background in painting and drawing. As an artist, art directing picture books and cultivating illustrator relationships came naturally. She graduated from the University of Virginia with a degree in fine art with concurrent and continuing study at the Corcoran School, Institute Lorenzo de’ Medici in Florence, and UC Berkeley Art Studio. She continues to incorporate her lifelong love of pattern and color in her art and publishing projects. Besides her work as a designer, Jessie is a dedicated advocate for animals and a wildlife rehabilitator. In her free time, she loves spending time with her family, taking her puppies to the beach, and crafting her garden.

kind words:

“This is incredible! I’ve never seen art direction handled in quite this way before, and it is wonderful. You have been so great to work with and I’ve really appreciated the thought and care you put into every step of the process.”  — Rebekah Moredock, Associate Editor, WorthyKids, Hachette Book Group

“I LOVE LOVE LOVE how you just solve design problems. The great thing about working with you is that you just get in there and figure things out in a way that’s so much better than what I would’ve come up with. I mean, that’s what every designer should do, but they don’t always. There are so many details here where you just figured out a cool way to do something. It’s fantastic!”  — Amy Stewart, New York Times Bestselling Author

“Wow! I’m so excited with what I’m seeing here! You’ve given me some really creative and exciting directions — I couldn’t be more enthusiastic about your ideas and where we’re headed. I’m so glad we asked you to be our designer.”  — James Richards, Artist and Author
